Alyssa Esteban is a graphic designer at luxury fashion house the Donna Karan Company, where she develops branding, advertising, and creative direction for Donna Karan New York and DKNY as a member of the in-house graphics studio. She holds a B.F.A. in Fine Arts and Graphic Design from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University, where she also held executive positions in Rutgers Association of Philippine Students (RAPS). Alyssa has contributed to UniPro in the Communications department, as well as in the capacity of Secretary General in 2015-2016.
To introduce her as UniPro New York's Vice President, we sat down with Alyssa for a few questions to get to know her better, and her thoughts on the upcoming year.
Q: How did you get involved with UniPro?
AE: I became involved in UniPro my sophomore year of college while I was at Rutgers University, accepting an internship as the graphic designer of UniPro Now, our annual e-magazine which accompanies UniPro Summit.
Since then, I have had the opportunity to experience a variety of roles within the organization including serving in the Communications department and Secretary General last year.
Q: What are some of the goals you have for UniPro to accomplish by the end of your term?
AE: As Vice President, my goal is to see UniPro New York expand our network in the Pilipino American community to become a trusted resource for information, personal/professional development, and partnership for both community and collegiate organizations.
Q: Why did you decide to run for President/Vice President?
AE: I hope to create a positive impact in our staff and the local Pilipino American community through my personal passions for empowerment and education.
Q: What advice would you give to a young Pilipino American professional that wants to be involved in the community?
AE: Find people who share your goals and passions. Seek out opportunities for growth. Hustle, hustle, hustle.
Q: What do you love most about UniPro?
AE: Being surrounded by incredible young professionals who channel their individual talents into serving the Pilipino American community.
